Walking Dead: Michonne

Walking Dead: Michonne is a story told in the gaps between Michonne leaving Rick’s group and returning in the comics.

Michonne was an interesting project for me, as I had very little to do with it for a long time and then suddenly I was the Creative Director on it. I came in late to help shepherd it through the production processes, cutting some bloat out of the story and really trying to hone in on what I thought was important about telling Michonne’s story: her guilt over her inability to save her children.

Special props to the wonderful Nicole Martinez, Lead Writer for the series, for knocking the new version out of the park. And to all the other collaborators who worked so hard to bring this vision to life in such a short time. What a terrific team of people to work with.

Epilogue

I shot and edited much of the series epilogue, featuring the beautiful Mirel Wagner song To The Bone, a song I found after nearly a month of Spotify listening. It was a nice, elegiac ending for Michonne either way—her daughters, haunting her for years, would either still be with her, always in the background, which she makes peace with, or, if she let them go, she’d be free of their apparitions.
